Born in Switzerland into an adventure-seeking family and raised on a small dairy and artisan cheese company on Vancouver Island, Canada, Kevin’s passion for caring for animals and exploring the great outdoors stemmed from an early connection with the natural world and caring for a variety of wild and domestic animals.
After an early career in animal husbandry and then in Farrier science, Kevin’s passion for animals and the outdoors led him to pursue a career in wildlife conservation biology. Since 2022, Kevin has coordinated the field component of the recovery effort for Canada’s most endangered mammal, the Vancouver Island marmot. Leading a team of six field technicians, Kevin learned exactly what it takes to bring a team of people together in a harsh environment to work effectively and safely to deliver on a critical mission.
After working in the field of applied biology for five years, Kevin’s professional interests have shifted back towards the world of research, particularly understanding how exceptional levels of intervention can be used to recover critically endangered species at the brink of extinction around the world.
In his spare time, Kevin enjoys pushing his boundaries and exploring the world around him through various activities, including flying airplanes, offshore sailing, big mountain alpinism, scuba diving, and motorcross, to name a few.
